Bassett-Boyd
Miss Alice Irene Boyd, daughter of Mr. andMrs. Fred H. Boyd of Peru, and Harry E. Bassett, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. HarryE. Bassett, 50 Park Avenue, were united in marriage yesterday afternoon atthree o’clock in a ceremony performed by the Rev. William Malpass in the chapelof Peru Community Church.
The Rev. GeorgeMorgan, pastor of the Peru Community Church, assisted at the double ringceremony.
During the ceremony, Carleton Wescott sang“Because” and “the Lord’s Prayer” and was accompanied at the piano by Miss JunePowell.
The bride was attired in a white satingown with lace yoke and long train. She wore a white net head-piece fastenedwith white satin leaves and carried a bouquet of red roses. Mrs. WalterTrainor, the bride’s sister, was matron of honor and she wore a fuchia satingown with headpiece of fuchia satin on white fur. Mrs. Trainor carried a whitefur muff to which was attached a corsage of red roses. The bride’s attendant,Mrs. Francis Broderick, wore a green satin gown and headpiece of white fur.Mrs. Broderick also carried a white fur muff with corsage of red roses. Jack. AMacGregor was best man while James Brown and Harold King served as ushers.
MarionMorse, attired in a white taffeta dress, was flower girl while Master JamesBushey was ring bearer.
Mrs. Boyd, the bride’s mother, selected ablue silk dress for the ceremony, wearing a navy blue velvet hat and navy bluegloves and accessories. Mrs. Bassett, mother of the groom, was dressed in awine-colored dress with black accessories. Mrs. Boyd wore a corsage of redroses and Mrs. Bassett a corsage of white roses. The bride was given inmarriage by her father.
Following the church ceremony, a receptionfor about 60 persons was held at The Tavern, Peru, after which Mr. and Mrs.Bassett departed for Montreal, Que., on their wedding trip. Decorations at thechurch and The Tavern consisted of white pompons.
Mrs. Bassett is a graduate of Peru CentralSchool, Class of 1946, and of the Albany Business College, Class of ’47. Untilrecently she was employed by the Plattsburgh National Bank and Trust Company.Mr. Bassett attended Plattsburgh High School and in April of 1948 he enlistedin the U.S. Navy. He is now serving as a radar specialist in the Navy.
Mrs. Bassett wore a beige wool dress withbrown accessories for traveling. The couple will live in Norfolk, Va., whereMr. Bassett is stationed.

Harry E. Bassett II
HarryE. Bassett II, 79, passed away, Monday, September 22, 2008 at his home inEdgewater, FL. He was born, May 22, 1929 in Plattsburgh, NY and moved toFlorida from Plattsburgh in 1975. He was a lifetime member of Keeseville ElksLodge #2072. He served in the Navy as a radar specialist. He worked for manyyears at New York State Electric and Gas Co. as a line boss and at New SmyrnaUtility Commission until he retired. He is survived by his wife, Doris Bassettof Edgewater; sister, Carol Skeen of South Daytone; Children: Harry (Nancy) E.Bassett III of Hadley, NY, Rick (Kathy) Bassett of Elizabethtown, NY, Candy(John) Wagner of Grand Junction, AZ, step children: Larry (Pam) Brillhart ofNorksville, VA, Sandra Glover of Lady Lake, FL, Rusty (Tina) Brillhart ofBradenton, FL, Lori Grant of Lake Helen, FL; give nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren;and five great-grandchildren. A family gathering was held on Tuesday, September23, 2008 at his home to celebrate his life.
