Mary Bassett Hodges Baldwin (Picture included)
Nov. 13, 1923 - Jan. 29, 2015 Mary Bassett Hodges Baldwin passed away on January 29, 2015. She was born in Roanoke, Alabama on November 13, 1923, one of ten children in a large, close-knit family. Mary will always be remembered as a gentle, loving lady. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and traveling with her family. Mary loved attending her grandsons' sporting events, visiting with her great granddaughters, and watching Auburn football games. She took great joy in spending time with her extended family of nieces and nephews. Mary was an active member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She belonged to the Birmingham Music Club and the Samford Auxiliary. The family would like to thank all the special friends who showered Mary with so much love and a special thanks to her caregivers, Maggie McPherson, Brenda Mitchell, Rhonda Zarzaur, Breagan Rowell, and Victoria Craig for their wonderful love, kindness, and attention. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Harry Munsey Hodges. She is survived by her two daughters Angela Hodges Anthony (David) and Patsy Hodges Durham (Bobby), grandsons David Henderson Anthony, Jr., Harris Hodges Anthony, and Wilkerson Eiland Anthony, granddaughters Sandra Durham Kitchens (Oliver) and Elaine Durham White (Roger), great granddaughters McClain Kitchens Zeigler (Trey) and Holly Durham Baquero (Byron), and two great great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama, followed by a graveside service for all family and friends at Memory Gardens at 2:00 p.m. in Roanoke, Alabama. Dr. Doug Dortsch will be officiating. "Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10.
