Jack C. Bass
(1936 - 2018)
Bass, Jack C. - March 30, 1936 - July 4, 2018 - Jack died peacefully in his sleep after a lengthy illness on July 4, 2018. Jack was born on a small farm near Lancaster, Wisconsin to Clifford and Beatrice Bass. He attended a one-room schoolhouse for grades one through eight and then attended Lancaster High School from 1950-1954. After high school, he worked for the Dubuque Meat Packing Company for two years before joining the Army. He spent the next two years, after boot camp, in Korea. Upon his return from Korea, he married his first wife, Phyllis. They had three children, Jerry, Jodi and Stacy. They were divorced in 1973. Jack returned to his job at the Dubuque Pack but he and his wife also owned a bar and motel called the Swiss Inn in East Dubuque, Illinois. He worked at the Dubuque Pack for 28 years, where he made many wonderful, lifelong friends. After he left the Pack, he had many careers, taking him all over the country. In 1989, he attended his 35th class reunion where he re-met an old classmate and followed her back to California, where they successfully combined a loving, blended family. They were married for 27 years. He said his best job was working for Charlene in a business they started in 1997. Jack had many hobbies including flying, hunting, fishing, golf, playing cards and shooting pool. He and his wife traveled in the motorhome all over the United States, took several cruises, went to the south Pacific and Hawaii many times. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Goodrich, and his wonderful blended family, Jodi Glasgow, Stacy Beardmore (Mike), Jeanne Triacca, Mary Massingill, Amy Ward, Meg Hatch, Mark Goodrich (Sherri) and Andree Audetat. He was best known as Dad, Papa Jack, Pops and Grampy Bass. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, his brother Robert Bass, and sister Janice Adams, both of Wisconsin. He is also survived by his best friend Buddie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Doris and sister Vivien, and his beloved son, Jerry. There will be a celebration of Jack's life at Legends overlooking his favorite golf course on August 26th at 1:00. A buffet lunch will be served. Please join us.
