Mary Elizabeth ?Betsy? Bassett Berry
Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Bassett Berry, 89, of Madisonville passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Life Care Center of La Center. She was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Madisonville to the late Ruth Crick Bassett Hammock and Elijah Bassett. She also was preceded in death by her stepmother, Minnie Doss Bassett; her husband, Johnnie James Berry; one sister, Martha Bassett Payne; and one brother, John William Bassett.
Mrs. Berry was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Earlington and then Christ the King Catholic Church of Madisonville. She attended Christian Female College of Columbia, Missouri. She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, fishing, golf and travel.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. (Dennis) Jessup of West Paducah; four sons, John A. (Ginny) Berry of Lexington, Douglas D. (Janet) Berry of Madisonville, William G. Berry of Louisville and David C. Berry of Louisville; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Earlington, with Father David Kennedy celebrating the funeral Mass. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at Immaculate Conception Church in Earlington.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Christ the King Building Fund. Envelopes will be available.
