BARRE CITY - Michael R. "Jamie" Bessette, 59, of Camp Street died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 in the Central Vermont Hospital of Berlin. His family had been at his bedside. Born Jan. 23, 1951 in Burlington, he was the son of Robert and Lorraine (Hall) Bessette and was a graduate of Burlington High School in 1970. He had been a varsity baseball and football player while in high school. On Feb. 21, 1987 he married Ivana J. Argenti in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre City, where they have always made their home. He had worked with his father as a private contractor for many years and later was associated with wood products manufacturing. He retired as shipping manager at the Northfield Wood Products in 2005 due to medical disability. He enjoyed the family cottage at Joe's Pond, traveling to Hawaii, his pet dogs and cats, and spending time with his friends at the Barre Elks Club <http://www.legacy.com/legacies/elks-lodge/?personid=146687673&affiliateID=2506>. His memberships included St. Monica Catholic Church, Barre Elks Lodge #1535, where he had served on the governing board, the Mutuo Inc., and Barre Post #10, Sons of the American Legion. He was predeceased by his brother, Craig Bessette; and his parents. Besides his widow, he leaves an aunt, cousins and many friends. The Memorial Mass and celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Interment will be made in the Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, P.O.
