Robert W. Bassett Sr.
Robert W. Bassett, 86 years, of Akron, died April 28, 2008.
A life resident of the area, Bob retired from Galets Packing and Shincor after many years service. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of V.F.W. Post #3383, a 1959 Commander and life member of American Legion Post #449, also a member of Voiture #468 40et8 and Victory Lodge #639 F.&A.M.
Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Anna Baur Bassett; his beloved wife, Ruth; sons, Robert Jr., and Jeffrey; granddaughter, Michelle; and sister Marcella Snyder. He is survived by son, Bruce; seven grandchildren and numerous great-granchildren.
Friends may call Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Chapel, 788 Kenmore Blvd. where Victory Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 6 p.m. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2008, at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Roma officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park where American Legion #449 will render military honors.
