Martha D. Bassett of Lowell, Raytheon retiree; 79 Lowell
Mrs. Martha D. (Durfee) Bassett, a resident of Lowell, died on Wednesday August 22nd, 2007, after a brief period of failing health, aged 79 years. She was the wife of the late Paul A. Bassett. She was born in Bellows Fall, Vt., on March 6th, 1928, the daughter of the late William C. and Dorothy L. (Carr) Durfee. Mrs. Bassett was employed for many years with Raytheon Co., as a technician. She enjoyed rooting for the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul A. and Carol Bassett of Oceanside, Calif., and Timothy T. and Nancy Bassett of Greenland, N.H.; her daughters and sons-in-law, Marthalynne (Judy) and George Bugler of Lowell, and Kathleen and Donald Benoit of Tyngsboro. Her grandchildren, Paul, Heather, George, Katie, Jeff, Jill and Abby. Her loving sister Madeline Lesniak, Shirley Kitchen, Helen Gelinas and Diane Sullivan; two brothers, James J. Durfee and Allan Durfee; and many dear friends. She was also the mother of the late Jeffrey A. Bassett and Stephen m. Bassett, and grandmother of the late T.J. Bassett. The family is very thankful for the quality of care given to Martha over the past three years.
Friends will be received at the Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Blvd at Chester and Harvard Sts. on Sunday from 6-8 P.M. Her funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday at 10 A.M. Friends invited. Friends who wish may make Memorial Contributions in her name to Wingate of Lowell, 500 Wentworth Ave., Lowell, MA 01852. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewsbury, MA. Funeral Director Walter F.
