Donale Joseph Bessette, MALTA (Picture included)
Donald Joseph Bessette, 85, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on September 11, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. Born in Malone on May 9, 1930, he is the son of the late Louis and Frances Bessette. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he earned his Master's Degree from Syracuse University. Don was a professor of English and Theatre for 23 years at Sage College in Albany (J.C.A) until his retirement. His passions included; being a Dad, teaching, theatre, the French Horn, convertibles and anything Tolkien. Don will certainly miss Joan's famous peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and rhubarb pie, his daily visits to Stewart's and The Cakery. Don is survived by his beloved children, Darrel (Rachel) Bessette, Michael Bessette and Elisa (Scott) Hansen; his brothers, John (Carol) Bessette and Alan (Leola) Bessette; and his cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Sean, D. Christopher, Carlin and Diego. Don will be laid to rest with full military honors on Thursday, September 17, at 12 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, all are welcome. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home. Those wishing to remember Don in a special way may make memorial contributions in his name to the Saratoga County Meals-on-Wheels, Saratoga County Municipal Offices c/o Meals-on-Wheels, 152 West High St., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
