Myrtle Bassett
Myrtle Virgie Bassett, 93, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Risco, Mo., died Monday, March 27, 2006, at her residence. Born May 8, 1912, in Lutes, Tenn., daughter of the late Harvey Clarence and Minnie Florence Reautherford Berry, she attended the First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Mo. On Oct. 2, 1932, in Caraway, Ark., she married Norman Bassett, who preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1979. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Allen, Alvie, Walker and Rufus Berry; four sisters, Vada Meadows, Ruby Dildine, Bernice Talkington and Cora Terry; two half-brothers, Clarence Berry, Jr. and Freddie Ray Berry and one granddaughter, Cristina Anne Underwood. Survivors include four daughters, Rita Bond, of Mt. Olive, Ill., Mary Lou Meador and husband, Jack, of Silva, Mo., Anna Sanders and husband, Ray, of Cape Girardeau and Linda Underwood and husband, Bill, of Arnold, Mo.; one half-sister, Mary Alice Ayers, of Waynesboro, Tenn., 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Wednesday, March 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m, Thursday, march 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Larry Danieley and Sam Ramdial officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park...
