Jaime Bass

On Monday, July 18, 2022, Jaime Bass passed away at the age of 48.
Jaime was born in Piedras Negras, Mexico, to Guillermina Gonzalez Hector and Arthur Bass. He received a bachelor's degree from UT Austin in Journalism in 2000 and immediately began his professional career as a stockbroker at Charles Schwab. After two years in that position, Jaime began his career in roofing which culminated in his position at Flynn Companies as Operations Manager for the entire Dallas/Fort Worth area. In May 2001, he married his high-school sweetheart, Rachel Grant Bass. In 2008, they welcomed a son into the world, Jackson Bass.
Jaime was a brilliantly intelligent man known for his quick wit and wicked sense of humor. He was an avid reader, and it was not uncommon to find anything from James Joyce to Robert Anton Wilson on his bookshelf. Music also played a big role in his life, as he enjoyed going to concerts with both family and friends. He loved the more physical endeavors life had to offer such as hunting, mountain biking, and fitness. His appetite for learning always led him to discover new things and conquer new challenges.
Perhaps most significantly, Jaime had a huge heart and loved his family and friends deeply. His love for and devotion to his wife was unwavering, evidenced by their over thirty-year relationship. He was also a wonderful father who adored his son, a dedicated big brother to his sister, Lisa, and a loving son. Jaime was a dedicated and influential leader, mentor, and touchstone to all who knew him, from friends and acquaintances to all he encountered in his professional life. He will be deeply missed by all.
Jaime is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Vial Gonzalez de los Santos and Diana Munoz de Gonzalez, his parental grandparents Santiago Bass and Carmela Rodriguez de Bass, his parental aunt Ana Elena Bass, his maternal uncle Vidal Gonzalez, and his maternal aunt Tere Gonzalez.
Jaime is survived by his wife, Rachel Grant Bass; his son, Jackson Bass; his sister, Lisa Bass Hicks; mother, Guillermina Gonzalez Hector; father, Arthur Bass; his step-father Douglas Hector; his nephew, Dillon Hicks; paternal aunts Claudia Bass and Sandra Bass; and his maternal aunts Diana Brown, Aida Arizpe, and Mariness Gonzalez.
