- James Warren Bassett fought in the Civil War in the Indiana Cavalry. He enlisted on November 16, 1863 and was a private in Company C, 12th Indiana Cavalry. He was also a private in Company H, 23rd Regiment. V.R.C. Notes from EPB list him as six feet one inches tall, 220 pounds.
