El Dorado Times El Dorado, Butler Co., KS Monday, Nov. 1, 1943 Front page (Microfilm reel E-125) Charles B. Cockrell Dies in Kansas City Charles B. Cockrell, aged 70 years, 500 East Locust Avenue, died at a hospital at Kansas City yesterday, after a serious illness of two weeks. He had been in ill health the past three years. He was born February 10, 1873, in St. Clair County, Mo., and was married to Miss Effie Ethridge, September 14, 1907, at Osceola, Mo. She survives him. He had resided in this community for the past 26 years. Mr. Cockrell was formerly a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. A daughter, Mrs. A.P. Mynear, of El Dorado; a son, Charles Elmo Cockrell, in service in the South Pacific with the United States Navy; a brother, Magnus Cockrell, of Appleton, Mo.; a half-sister, Mrs. Mary E. Ginter, of Appleton, Mo.; and three half-brothers, Lewis Bassett, of El Dorado; William H. Bassett, of North Wood, Iowa; and John Francis Bassett, of Lyle, Minn., also survive him. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Byrd Funeral Home. Rev. Ozie Pruett, pastor of the Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be made in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
