Mary Jane Bessette
SAINT ALBANS - Mary Jane Bessette, 67, a longtime resident of the Swanton Road died late Monday afternoon, May 31, 2004, in the Northwestern Medical Center
in St. Albans City. Born in
Highgate, July 10, 1936, she was the daughter of Joseph R. and Nettie(Wells) Cusson. She attended Bellows Free Academy - St. Albans. During herworking life Mary had been associated with IBM, Arthur Treacher's and TheFonda Group. She also operated the Coffee Shop Restaurant at the CadillacMotel and worked as an administrative assistant for the Vermont Departmentof Health in Burlington for 17 years. She was a member of the Veterans ofForeign Wars Auxiliary Post 758 St. Albans and belonged to the RutlandChapter of the Disabled American Veterans. Mary will always be rememberedfor her love of gambling. She enjoyed playing all games especially Bingo andtaking chances with her lottery tickets and especially loved spending timewith her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She leaves her loving motherand caregiver, Nettie Cusson of St. Albans; a daughter, June Root andcompanion James Gauvin of St. Albans; grandchildren, Joel Root, Josie Rootand Jollene Root and companion Brian Brault; greatgrandchildren, NicholasRoot and Tayler Root-Brault; daughter, Patricia Ann Sifford and husbandPerry Wayne Sifford of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Ronald L.Rushford Jr., Travis D. Rushford, Antoinette R. Quiambao, Leslie A. Cole,Julie A. Rushford and Sam W. Sifford; great-grandchildren, BurgandyRushford, Erin Rushford, Cody Sifford, Ashlynn Cole, Breanna Cole, C.J.Sifford, Andrea Sifford, Chris Sifford and Lauren Sifford; daughter, MaryNettie Pelissier and companion Gary Carncross of Richmond; grandchildren,Kelly Clements and husband Jim and Ryan Pelissier; greatgrandchildren, Lukeand Baylee Clements; son Chuck Bessette and his wife a very specialdaughter-in-law Sue of St. Albans; grandchildren, Jerrod Bessette and DawnLacombe and great-grandchildren Justin, T. J., and Heather. Also survivingis an uncle, Morton Wells of Franklin, Vt., and Cohoes, N.Y.; brother-in-lawand sisters-in-law, Donald and Phyllis Bessette of St. Albans and LucilleOrvis of Bristol; three special nieces as well as many other nieces andnephews. In addition to her father Joseph Cusson, she was predeceased by herhusband, Charles Bessette on April 20, 2001. Funeral Services will be heldThursday evening, June 3, at 8 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 GrandAve., Swanton. Father John J. Meagher, S.S.E. will officiate. Intermentservices will take place Saturday, June 5, at 3 p.m. at the Cusson familylot in Saint Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home onThursday evening from 7 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Gifts in Mary'smemory may be made in the form of Masses.
