Loomis Bassett, Sportsman, Dies Suddenly
Loomis D. (Don) Bassett, 37, well-known Pittsfield and Lanesboro sportsman of Potter Mountain road, Lanesboro, died suddenly last night while making a purchase in the Pittsfield Liberty Shop at 193 Wahconal Street.
Death was attributed to a heart malady.
A native of Pittsfield, Mr. Bassett was born March 7, 1915, son of Garfield Bassett and Abbie M. Loomis Bassett and operated the Bassett Auto Wrecking Company in Lanesboro for several years. He was an ardent sportsman and was fond of hunting, fishing and trapping.
Survivors are his widow, the former Margaret E. Hunt; his father Garfield Bassett; three sisters, Mrs. Roy Reinhold, Mrs. Lolua Reinhold and Mrs. Carl VanBrame Jr., all of Pittsfield.
Funeral services will be held at the Willington Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery. The family will meet friends at the funeral home tonight and tomorrow evening from 7 to 9.
