Louisa A. Bassett
EASTON ? Louise A. Bassett of Easton, MD, formerly of Denton, MD, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Integrace Bayleigh Chase in Easton. She was 97 years old. Born in Bayard, NE, Mrs. Bassett was the daughter of the late Wheeler Austin and Okie Billings Austin. Her husband of 69 years, James V. Bassett, died January 11, 2011.
Mrs. Bassett had received her Librarian Certificate from George Washington University and was the Librarian at the Hillcrest Heights Elementary School in Maryland?s Prince George?s County for many years. An accomplished artist, she loved water colors. In addition, her love for children always shined through as a great smile whenever children were present. She and Mr. Bassett had retired at the same time and moved to a farm near Denton in 1972. They were members of the St. Luke?s United Methodist Church in Denton.
Mrs. Bassett is survived by two sons and their wives: James W. Bassett and his wife Linda of Jacksonville, FL and Thomas R. Bassett and his wife Marilyn of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren: Rebecca Maxwell and Bradley Bassett; and two great grandchildren: Chapman and Colin.
A memorial service was held on Monday morning, January 18th, at Bayleigh Chase (formerly Wm. Hill Manor) in Easton. The interment will be private.
