Burrillville ? Hubert E. Bessette
HUBERT E. BESSETTE of the Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag, a supervisor for quality control for 47 years for the former Falls Yarn Mills in Woonsocket, retiring in 1983, and a professional musician, died Friday in the nursing home. He was the husband of Eileen M. (Lennox) Bessette.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Ephrem and Amanada (Thibeault) Bessette, he lived in North Smithfield for 40 years before he moved to Pascoag. He lived in Melbourne, Fla., from 1990 to 1994.
Mr. Bessette played bass fiddle and performed locally with the Al Lague Trio and several "Big Bands" on show boats and cruise ships in New York and many venues throughout the country.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Slatersville. He was a member of the American Federation of Musician Union Local 262 in Providence.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Susan (Hunter) Brunelle of North Smithfield; a brother, Leo Bessette of Gainesville, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 51 8South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass at noon at St. John the Evangelist Church, Church Street. Cremation will follow.
