Gerald L. Bassett
EDGERTON ? Gerald Bassett, 60, Edgeview Trailer Court, died at 10:35 p.m. Thursday at Coldwater Community Health Center, Coldwater, Mich., where he had been a patient since Sunday. He had been in failing health since January.
He was born June 15, 1921, in Hicksville. Parents were Elmer and Violet (Carver) Bassett. For the past 14 years, he worked at Dotco in Hicksville and was a member of the Hicksville Eagles and the Bryan Moose. He was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are his mother, Hicksville; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Sharon) Onstott, Coldwater, Mich.; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lois Humbarger of Spencerville, Ind., Mrs. Jean Reas of Monroeville, Ind., Mrs. Doris Ridgeway of Hicksville, and Mrs. Alice Stark, Edgerton; six brothers, Junior, Virgil , Basil, Kenneth and Lee, all of Hicksville, and Rex, Mark Center.
He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers.
Services will be in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Robert Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville. Calling at the funeral home is after 2 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m.
