Ralph Thurston Bassett, son of Richard Bassett of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire,
graduated 1869 from Christ Church College, Oxford, aged 18 in 1869.

Funeral at Llanbleddian
The funeral of Mr. Ralph Thurstan Bassett, D.L. J.P., of Crossways, Cowbridge, a former master of the Glamorgan Hunt, high sheriff of Glamorgan in 1895, and a member of the Glamorgan County Council since its formation, took place at Llanbleddian Church on Monday afternoon, and was of a semi-private character. The chief mourners were : Mr. Fred Morgan (son-in-law), Mr. Forestier-Walker, Captain J. G.R. Homfray, Colonel H.R. Homfray, and Mr. Harold Morgan. The coffin, of polished oak with massives bras furniture was covered with beautiful wreaths. On the coffin plate was the inscription;

A large gathering of gentry and members of the general public met the cortege at the churchyard. Among those present were Lord Tredegar, Col.
