POESTENKILL Marjorie L. Bassett, 81, of Plank Road died on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her residence after a long illness. Born in Hoosick Falls, she was daughter of the late Hudson Bassett and Beatrice Wilson Bassett. She had resided in Poestenkill most of her life and was a graduate of Hoosick Falls Central School, Fanny Allen School of Nursing in Burlington, Vt., and St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vt. Ms. Bassett was employed as a registered nurse at the Samuel Stratton V.A. Medical Center and Albany Memorial Hospital where she taught surgical technology and Russell Sage where she taught nursing. She was also a nurse for St. Mary's Hospital from 1964 until her retirement in 2000. Survivors include a special friend, Linda Biittig of Poestenkill; a brother, Floyd Bassett of Berlin; a sister, Laura Bassett and several nieces and nephews. Linda Biittig would like to thank her family, Richard and Barbara Biittig, Carolyn Biittig, Al and Barbara Fournier, Edward and Betty Biittig, Joan and Dick Hoffman, Mike and Irene Mieczkowski for all of their love and support. Also a special thank you to Drs. Charles Sulzman and Joseph Roglieri and their staffs and all the dedicated nurses of St. Mary's Hospital 5 south. Relatives and friends may call at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 12 to 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas F. Holmes, pastor. Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Marjorie L.
