      DRAKESVILLE: Billy D. Bassett, 84, of Drakesville, Iowa died February 8, 2013 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa. He was born February 3, 1929 in Leon, Iowa to Laurence and Bessie Maynard Bassett. He married M. Marlene Haines August 22, 1952 in Drakesville. He served in the United States Navy during Korea. Billy was the Postmaster in Drakesville and was a farmer. He was affiliated with the Drakesville United Methodist Church and was a member of Ottumwa Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M.

      He is survived by his wife; daughter, Jana (Vern) Bassett Walker of Moulton, Iowa; two sons, Jeff (Shelly) Bassett, Jay (Betsy) Bassett both of Bloomfield, Iowa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ginger Gottula and Joann Bassett in infancy.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial with graveside military rites performed by Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion will be at the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville. Visitation will begin after 11:00 a.m. on Sunday with Masonic services performed by Ottumwa Lodge #16 at 2:00 p.m. followed by family visitation until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Drakesville United Methodist Church and Davis County Dollars for Scholars.

      DRAKESVILLE ? Billy D. Bassett, 84, of Drakesville, died Feb. 8, 2013, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.

      Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the Drakesville Cemetery.

      Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be 2 p.m., followed by family visitation with friends until 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

      Memorials have been established in lieu of flowers to Drakesville United Methodist Church and Davis County Dollars for Scholars.
