Jonah R. Bass
Dunn - Jonah Robertson Bass, 75, of Route 5, Dunn, died Tuesday in Fort Bragg Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Shady Grove Church. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Sampson County, Mr. Bass was the son of the late George W. and Mary Elizabeth Jackson Bass. He was a farmer and spent his entire life in the Shady Grove community. Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Mrs. Irene Powell Bass; one son, George Calvin Bass of Fort Bragg; three brothers, Deodric Bass, Route 3, Clinton; George William Bass, Route 5, Dunn; and Orville (Shorty) Bass of Lillington; one sister, Mrs. T.E. Barefoot of Route 3, Clinton, and five grandchildren.
