Believe Youth is Forger
The police of Saratoga Springs have in their custody a sixteen-year-old boy, who, when arrested yesterday afternoon, gave his name as William Bessette and said his home was in Cohoes. The Saratoga Springs police believe that the boy is a forger. Thursday he went to the Citizens’ National Bank of Saratoga Spring with a check for $10, which was signed B.S. Clute. He deposited this and opened an account. Yesterday he came with other checks, all signed with the same name, and had $54 worth cashed. With this money he purchased an overcoat, a watch and a pair of overshoes at stores at Saratoga Springs. Meanwhile the bank officials ahd been informed that the checks had been forged. The boy was arrested, and the police are awaiting word from this father. A week ago the lad asked the clerk of Sweeney’s Hotel at Saratoga Springs to identify him at a bank, as he wanted to cahs a check for $200. The clerk refused.
