Billy Ray Bassett, age 68, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021. Bill was born February 15, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas to Edith M Brattin-Bassett and Noble William Bassett.
Bill will be remembered as an artful craftsman, teacher of his trade and a passionate fisherman. He was a jokester and prankster with a contagious belly-laugh that often brought everyone to tears. He was a thoughtful story-teller, builder of birdhouses, and lover of scary movies. He was patient, generous, good natured, mindful, kind, loyal, and honest to a fault.
Bill was a loving and tolerant husband, proud parent, grandparent, friend, and confidant who will be in our hearts for eternity. For such a quiet man, his reputation spoke volumes. The lessons he taught will follow us through our lives and be shared with our children and generations to come.
His notable wit will be especially missed. His love, kindness, and compassion will live on through us.
We are infinitely thankful that God brought him into our lives.
Bill is survived by his wife, Niki L. Bassett; children Matthew M. Ohlson (Amy), Sarah H. Reynolds (Christopher), Joshua K. Bassett, Will H. Bassett, and Elliott D. Bassett (Monique Maldonado); grandchildren Taylan A. Bassett, Kadence A. Bassett, Samuel C. Reynolds and Reed M. Ohlson.
Bill was preceded in death by daughter Heidi Diane Bassett; father Noble William Bassett and mother Edith M Brattin-Bassett; brothers Joe Earl Bassett, Carl Max Bassett, Donald Lee Bassett and sister Barbara Jean Bassett.
A private memorial service will be held.
