Nancy Minick Bass
Nancy Minick Bass, born in Nashville, TN, on July 29, 1930, passed away on January 19, 2015 at age 84.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. Bass, her parents, Norman R. Minick, Sr., and Leila Lewis Minick, and her brother, Norman R. Minick, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Minick Bass and his wife Susan Duvier Bass of College Grove, TN; her stepson, Francis M. Bass, Jr., and his wife Kathy H. Bass of Nashville, TN; her stepdaughter, Jennie Wynn Bass Bartee and her husband Ted Bartee of Clover, SC; and her stepdaughter, Margaret Bass Berglund of Steamboat Springs, CO. She is also lovingly survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Nancy graduated from Ward Belmont in Nashville and earned a B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University (Peabody College). Her love of children drew her to a teaching career. She taught fourth grade at H.G. Hill Elementary School and Woodmont before moving with her husband to a farm in College Grove, where she spent her happiest days.
She was a long time member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Centennial Club, AOPi Sorority, and a devoted Vanderbilt basketball fan. She became the "matriarch" of the close knit, extended Bass family, and so loved their reunions and time together.
Funeral service to be held at Calvary United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 24 at 11 a.m. Her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation with family will be at Calvary from 9 until 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Nashville Rescue Mission or the Nashville Humane Society.
