Earl Richard "Dick" Green, 73 of Tipton died Sunday, December 30, 2007 in St. Joseph Hospital in Pittsfield Township. He was born June 14, 1934 in Cheboygan, MI, the son of Steven and Grace (Bassett) Green. He married Shirley Granis in 1953. He was then united in marriage with Esther Benney on December 29, 1986 and she survives.
Dick was employed from June 1966 to February 1996 as a millwright by Ford Motor Company at the Rawsonville plant. Earlier in his life, Dick was an ironworker and participated in the building of the Mackinac Bridge. He was a past member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge F.& A.M. and he enjoyed bowling and golf. Dick served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his wife Esther, Dick is survived by two sons, Steven (Billie) Green and David (Patty) Green both of Rapid City, MI; one daughter, Shelley (William) Hardy of Alden, MI; two brothers, Robert (Molly) Green of Mackinac Island, MI and Joseph (Carmon) Green of St. Ignace, MI; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sisters. Dick will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 2 until 5 P.M. Cremation will follow visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
