Edward Bassett
NAPOLEON - Edward Fred Bassett, 94, Napoleon, died Thursday morning, May 26, 2005, in Medical University of Ohio, Toledo.
He was born May 13, 1911, in Toledo, the son of Moses and Hassiba Bassett. He married Ethel Matteson, who died in 1981. He was the manager and supervisor at Chief Supermarket, Napoleon, for more than 20 years, where he retired. He worked for many years at the former Bassetts Variety Store in Napoleon and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Napoleon, a 32nd degree Mason and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a son, David (Elyse) Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; a brother, Victor, Arlington, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death was a brother Dewey.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, Napoleon, with Rev. Gavin Pitt officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. today in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.
Preferred memorials are to the cardiology department at Medical University of Ohio.
