Donald Jess Bassett
Donald Jess Bassett, 60, formerly of Akron, and more recently residing in Canton, passed away Thursday evening at the Mercy Medical Center, following an extended illness. Born in Dennison on June 15, 1940, he was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of Firestone Country Club, and was a member of the Bethel Temple Assemblies of God Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Hockrein) Bassett, and his father, Jesse B. Bassett. Survivors include daughters, Raven and Shauna Bassett, both of Akron; his mother, Mary T. Bassett of Canton; and sister, Mary Ann Saienni of Enfield, Conn. There are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the Reed Funeral Home, with Rev. Brian Millard officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
