Funeral Held For O.A. Bass
Rites Conducted For Prominent Burlington Restaurant Man and War Vet

Burlington, July 30 - Funeral service for Oscar Alfred Bass, 44, well known restaurant man and world war veteran, who died at his home, 303 East Davis Street, at 7:10 o’clock Wednesday morning following a brief illness, was conducted from the home at 4 o’clock today by Reverend A.D. Kinnett, of the First Baptst Church, and F.W. Pasendal, of the First Methodist Protestant church. Military honors were paid the deceased by his comrades of the American legion.
Attended Convention
The veteran, whose health had been impaired for several months, had returned home from Asheville, where he had attended the 18th annual convention of the American Legion, but a few hours earlier. He was an active member of the Walter B. Ellis post, interested in the fellowship of his comrades.
A native of Alamance county, Mr. Bass was a son of the late H.F. and Sallie Lindley Bass. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Zenobah and Francis Bass; two sons, Warren and Oscar Jr.; three brothers, V.W., D.B. and J.D. Bass; two sisters, Mrs. Curry Isley and Mrs. Clay Marlette, and his mother, all of the city.
