Salisbury - Mr. Junior Dwight "Jay" Bass, 75, died July 15, 2002. Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Rockwell. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at Powles Funeral Home.

Junior “Jay” Bass
The funeral will be Thursday for Junior Dwight "Jay" Bass, 75, Salisbury, who died Monday (July 15, 2002) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.Born January 14, 1927, in Iredell County, Mr. Bass, a son of the late Arlen Jackson and Betty Ann Beggerly Bass, was educated in the Rowan County schools.He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A retired truck driver, he worked for Central Motor Lines. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Spencer.Survivors include wife Doris Walser Bass, whom he married December 23, 1944; sons Gary D. Bass, Mount Ulla; David T. Bass, Salisbury; Donald J. Bass, Asheville; and Steve W. Bass, Rockwell; daughters Judy B. Eagle, Spencer; Ann B. Hall, Salisbury; Bonnie B. Mills, China Grove; and Lisa B. Farina, Concord; sister Lois B. Day, Gastonia; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, First Baptist Church, Rockwell, conducted by Dr. Benny L. Vickrey, pastor, and the Reverend Jebb Barr, associate pastor.
