Sylvanus Bass
ROXBORO ? Sylvanus Bass, 68, of Rt. 2, Rougemont, died Wednesday morning at Duke Hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Person County.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Siloam Baptist Church in Rougemont by Elder Floyd Haith, the Rev. H.L. Bridges and the Rev. E.T. Thompson. Burial will be in the Bass family cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Daisy Daye Bass; four daughters, Miss Ola Bass of the home, Mrs. Glovenuia B. Thomas of Sparkill, N.Y., Mrs. Eunice B. Gist of Charlotte, Mrs. Regenia, B. Maultsby of Fairfield, Conn.; four sons, Julius Bass and Edmond Bass, both of Durham, Eugene Bass of Greensboro and Larry Bass of Raleigh; two sisters, Mrs. Clara B. Hayes and Mrs. Catherine B. Hawley, both of Durham; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gladys Bass, Joel Bass, Thomas Bass, Willie Lee Bass, Elvin Bass, Adolphus Hayes, Elmer Hayes and Clifton Turrentine.
