Georgeann Bassett Weitz, 95
Georgeann B. Bassett of Newtown died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Pickering Manor, Newtown. She was 95.
She was born in Elkins Park to the late Rosser and Olivia Birdsong. She was formerly of Wrightstown Township, before moving to Newtown 58 years ago.
Georgeann was an executive secretary for Council Rock School District.
She was an avid Bridge player with several Bridge Clubs in Newtown.
In her youth, Georgeann was an accomplished athlete in field hockey, softball and swimming. Georgeann enthusiastically enjoyed her life, loving and caring for her family and quietly helping many within her community.
Georgeann was the wife of the late Charles M. Longsdorf and the devoted wife of 44 years to Raymond F. Bassett. She was the devoted mother of Georgeann and Edward Weitz of Warminster, Gretchen and Joseph Luff Jr. of Islamorada, Fla., and Paul and Susan Longsdorf of Steam Boat Springs, Colo.; and the loving grandmother of six, Denise Wuerthele, Stephen C. Barr, Amy S. Smith, Joseph B. Luff III, Katra Gilanyi and Joshua Longsdorf. She was the proud great-grandmother of 11.
Private services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
