- The records of the children are from a family Bible, a copy of which can be found at the State Archives in Richmond, Virginia. The Bible was in possession of Mrs. Donald Kilgore of Dallas, Texas, when filmed by the State Archives in Richmond. She was a granddaughter of Benjamin Harris and Mary B. Bassett.

Ben Bassett Funeral Services To Be Held Thursday Afternoon

The funeral of Ben H. Bassett of Roswell, New Mexico, will be held from the residence of M.C. Turner, 325 West Jefferson street, Oak Cliff, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The services will be conducted by the Right Reverend Alexander C. Garrett and the Reverend John W. Ohl.
Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife who was Miss Ethel Walden, and one son, John Walden Bassett; five sisters, Mrs. E.B. Muse, Mrs. Howard P. May and Miss Lilla Bassett of Dallas, Mrs. John Watson of Cameron and Mrs. R.I. McCalla of San Antonio; two brothers, Lewis W. Bassett of Dallas and W.J. Bassett of Temple.
Mr. Bassett was born in Brenham, Texas, August 11, 1871, and was the son of Major B.H. Bassett of Sayles & Bassett. He came to Dallas in 1890, and was with the City National Bank for a number of years. He was then for ten years with the American Exchange National Bank, until he left Dallas thirteen years ago to be with the American National Bank of Roswell.
The active pallbearers are George H. Pittman, Frank H. Blankenship, Sam R. Lawder, Howard P. May, Judge E. B. Muse, and M.C. Turner.

Funeral Services for Ben H. Bassett This Afternoon
Funeral services for Ben H. Bassett, 50 years old, who died at Roswell, New Mexico, will be held at the home of M.C. Turner, 325 West Jefferson street, Oak Cliff, at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon. Bishop A.C. Garrett and the Reverend John W. Ohl, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The pallbearers will be George R. Pittman, Frank H. Blankenship, Sam R. Lawder, Howard P. May, Judge E. B. Muse and N.C. Turner.
Mr. Bassett, who was a son of Major B. H. Bassett, was born at Brenham, August 11, 1871. He came to Dallas in 1890 and was with the City National Bank. Thirteen years later he went to Roswell to take a position in the American National Bank of Roswell. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Ethel Walden, and one son, John Walden Bassett; five sisters, Mrs. E. B. Muse, Mrs. Howard P.
