  Notes	Source unknown The Bassett family resided in Thorah Township; in 1861, and had removed to Eldon Township by 1871. Some records indicated Samuel and Mary were from England; others suggested Samuel was born in Australia. At various times, members of this family lived in Mara. Peter and Henry married Sheridan sisters, Ellen and Mary. John Bassett, a younger brother of Peter and Henry, was buried in St. Andrew's Parish cemetery, Brechin, Mara Township.
