Bassett Nicholas My grandfather’s full name was Nicholas Lewis Bassett. He always spelled his name “Nicholas” not “Nickolas.” I am not sure about the spelling of “Lewis” though because one of my uncles was named after him and his name was Louis. Source: family member.

Bassett, Minerva Minerva Bassett, 78, of 806 Lee St. , Milan , who had been ill with a heart ailment the last four months, died Wednesday in Provincial House, in Adrian . Rev. Vern R. Campbell will officiate at funeral. Born April 22, 1898 in Baskenta , Syria , she was the daughter of George and Mary Kadi. She was married to Nicholas Bassett May 11, 1915, in Cleveland , Ohio . Mr. (Nicholas) Bassett died in 1948. She was a member of People’s Presbyterian church. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Leo (Nellie) Schnurstein of St. Helen and Mrs. Elmer (Dolores) Pulver of Milan; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Louis and Alfred Bassett.

Bassett, Minerva Minerva Bassett came to the US from Beirut when she was about 13-15 years of age. [Approx 1912] Her parents were wealthy clothing store owners in Beruit. Minerva’s mother sold jewelry and other things to raise the fare for Minerva to come to the US . Minerva came to the US to escape the unrest in Lebanon . We were Christians, not Muslims. Bassett, Louis Louis Bassett, 55, of Ann Arbor died yesterday in the Chelsea Medical Center . He was a former Milan resident. He was the son of Nicholas and Minerva Bassett. He was born March 16, 1916, in Cleveland , Ohio . He married Trella Gillespie Sept. 7, 1941, in Angola , Indiana . Mr. Bassett was reared in Milan and graduated from Milan High School He was a veteran of WW II. He owned and operated the Wash-Out Laundry in Jackson . Surviving: his mother of Milan ; stepson Lionel Gillespie of Douglas , Ariz ; brother, Alfred Bassett of Ann Arbor ; 2 sisters, Mrs. Leo (Nellie) Schnurstein of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Elmer (Delores) Pulver of Milan, and four grandchildren. Bassett, Nellie Nellie M. Schnurstein died Dec. 7, 1992 at age 75. She was born May 26, 1917 in Cleveland , Ohio to Nickolas and Minerva (Kadi) Bassett. On Feb. 20, 1960 she married Leo A. Schnurstein and he died Nov. 27, 1986. She was living in Rochester Hills at the time of her death, and she died at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak . She was buried in Marble Park Cemetery in Milan . Obit says: She was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Alfred Bassett, and one sister Dolores Pulver.
Bassett Delores Delores Pulver died Nov. 8, 1978 at St. Joe Hospital . She was born July 5, 1919 in Akron , Ohio , the daughter of Nicholas and Menerva (Kadi) Bassett. She was married to Elmer F. Pulver on July 25, 1947 in Milan . She is survived by 4 sons including Douglas Pulver of Milan . She was buried in Marble Memorial Park Cemetery.
