Dale Bassett
Dale "Slim" Bassett, Father, brother, and friend passed from this life October 11, 2007 in Austin, Texas. Dale was born on February 16, 1933 and was a life long resident of Austin. He was preceded in death by parents Mary Maude and Horace Bassett, also beloved wife Katherine M. Bassett, infant granddaughter Ann Marie, niece Patsy Jo Bassett. Survived by brother, Leslie J. (Rooster) Bassett of Rockport, Texas; daughters, Mary Ann Rawls and husband James, Nancy Dale Denges and husband Chuck; son, Leslie Dale; grandchildren, Brandon Hooper and Crystal Bassett; numerous nieces and nephews; and wife's brother, Douglas Moore and sister Barbara Castleberry. As a much sought after, highly competent boat mechanic, he met people from all walks of life, and delighted those with his ability to tell tall tales, humorous stories and jokes. With special thanks to Dr. James Boysen, who treated him over 20 years, Vista Care Hospice, and the dedicated staff at South Austin Hospital who cared for him in his last chapter of life.
