Obituary
Liston B. Bassett
Liston B. Bassett, a native of Mt. Vision and son of Dr. W.T. Bassett,
long a prominent physician first at Mt. Vision and later at Cooperstown, died
at his home at Norwich Monday morning after a long illness. The funeral
services were held from the home, Wednesday morning, at 10:30 o’clock, and the
body was taken to Westerville and cremated.
Mr. Bassett was born at Mt Vision in 1846 and later removed with his
father to Cooperstown where for several years he was engaged as a druggist.
Later he lived at Jamestown, Meadville, Pa., and Denver, Colorado. He located
in Norwich in 1882 and for a period of about twenty-five years conducted a
bottling business in that city. He also for some seventeen years was the
manager of the Clark opera house.
Mr. Bassett is survived by a wife and one son, Wilson Bassett, and by
two sisters, Mrs. Emma Keyes, widow of the late Melville Keyes, long a
resident of Onconta, and Dr. Mary Imogene Bassett of Cooperstow
Mr. Bassett was widely known in this section, his father’s fami
having been of English ancestry who settled at new Lisbon. The name has long
be prominent and the death of Mr. Bassett will be regretted by all who knew
