Cecil Graden Bass
Cecil Graden Bass was born on January 4, 1930 in Dickens County to L.G. and Thelma Bass. He passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at the age of 83. Graden grew up in the Dry Lake community and graduated from Spur High School in 1947. He married Billie Hindman in 1950 and moved to the McNeill ranch where he began his farming career and then moved to the Spur area where he raised his family and became involved in many organizations including a chartered member of the Spur Ex-Student Association of 57 years, Dickens County Farm Bureau Board and Spur Golf Course. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Bass of Huntington, Utah. He is survived by his wife, Billie; one son Ronnie and wife Shelley of LaPorte; three daughters, Nancy Allen and husband Doug of Lubbock, Joy Jones and husband Richard of Lubbock, Laurie Hinson and husband Chuck of Spur; nine grandchildren, Slater Bass and wife Niki of Tomball, Cody Allen and wife Stephanie of Lubbock, Cheyanna New and husband Adam of Lubbock, Craig Jones of Lubbock, Brandon Jones and fiance Lyndal Briscoe of Lubbock, J. Don Hinson and wife Sammy of Spring, Brady Hinson and wife Lindsey of Lubbock, and Lyndie and Landon Hinson of Lubbock; and six great-grandchildren with two more on the way, Jentry, Jayton and Ryelann Bass of Tomball, Graden and Garrison Allen of Lubbock, and Lexi Hinson of Spring. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Adell Gannon of Dickens, Gay Nell Smith, of Lamesa, Carlos Bass of Jayton and Larry Bass of Spur. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Spur under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Spur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Spur Ex-Students Association.
