  Notes	News and Observer Raleigh, North Carolina Monday, December 25, 1939 George R. Bass Dunn - George Robert Bass, 54, retired Sampson County farmer, died at his home on Dunn, Route 5, early Sunday afternoon. He had been in failing health for the past several years and confined to his bed for seven weeks. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Spring Branch Church, near Dunn. The Reverend C.H. Cashwell of Wendell, pastor, and the Reverend G.A. Bain will officiate. Burial will be in the Bass family cemetery near the home. Mr. Bass, a native and life long resident of Sampson County, was the son of the late L.H. and Penny Ingraham N. Bass of a prominent Sampson family. He was a member of the Spring Branch Church and was one of the best known farmers in the Mingo section. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha Bass; three sons, Lewis, Freeman and Corby Bass, all of near Dunn; a brother, J.W. Bass of Dunn, Route 4; two sisters, Mrs. J.H. Norris of Dunn, Route 1, and Mrs. E.M. Williford of Roseboro, Route 2; and a grandson, Larry Robert Bass.
