Dennis Bass
1931 – 2016
Dennis Edward Bass, 85, of Greenup, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the home of his daughter in Winchester, Kentucky.
He was born in Estelle, West Virginia on April 14, 1931, a son of the late Jeremiah and Maggie Austin Bass.
He was retired with 23 years of service with the Chessie System as a Carman, retired with 30 years of service from Allied Wrecking, a member of Laborers Union 310, a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, a member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Kentucky Sheriff Association.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife Sydney Belle Bass in 1998; four brothers; a sister and a special friend Nannie Boggs.
He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Hays of Winchester; a son, Dennis “Butch” Bass and his wife Mendi of Argillite; a brother, Jack E. Bass of North Folk Virginia; two grandsons, A.J. Bass and his wife Rachael and Josh Bass; three granddaughters, Katie Robinson and her husband Blake, Jonie Gentz and her husband Corey and Kristie Ptasnik and her husband Ron; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky, by Brother Clyde Bolling.
Burial will follow in the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky.
