Omer J. Demarest
GREEN ISLAND -- Omer J. Demarest, 93, formerly of Green Island and Cohoes, died Thursday at the VanRensselaer Manor. He was the husband of the late Mary Vollmer Demarest. He was the father of Robert O. Demarest of Wynantskill and the late Frederick J. Demarest; brother of the late Lena Carter, Rose O'Rourke, Eva Bradley, Florence Shaw, Lillian Desautels, Agnes Sanford, and Leo, Thomas, Albert and George Demarest; also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Green Island on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colonie. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by McNulty Funeral Home, Green Island.

Omer Demarest
GREEN ISLAND - Omer J. Demarest, 93, formerly of Green Island and Cohoes, died Thursday at the Van Rensselaer Manor. Born in Green Island, Mr. Demarest moved to Cohoes in 1982. He was a truck driver for Fitzgerald Brewery in Troy; Grand Union in Waterford; and the Morgan & National Trailer Convoy. In 1963, he retired from Woodcraft. Mr. Demarest was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a member of the Green Island and Cohoes senior citizens clubs. For many years, he was a ham radio operator. Mr. Demarest was the widower of Mary Vollmer Demarest. His son Frederick J. Demarest died March 11. Survivors include a son, Robert O. Demarest of Wynantskill; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colonie. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the McNulty Funeral Home.
