Iris I. Jean Bass
BRAZIL ? Iris I. Jean Bass, 88, of Brazil, died July 21, 2015, at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. She was born March 21, 1927, in Vigo County, the daughter of Orlie Freeman Hyde and Lola Merle Leonard Hyde. She graduated from Glen High School.
Jean was married to Theodore M. Bass Jr., March 19, 1949. He preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2005. In her working years, she worked for Simplicity Pattern Company, Quaker Maid, and also worked at the "Silver Star," as a cook making tenderloins. She last worked in housekeeping for the Clay Community School Corporation.
She was a member of the Franklin Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Dane D. Bass and wife, Melissa of Terre Haute; daughter in law, Rebecca "Kathy" Bass of Brazil; grandchildren, Ryan Bass and wife, Amber, Joe Bass and wife, Hannah, and Meghan Vester and husband, Dylan, Larry Bass, and Clint Bass and foster grandson, Joe Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Emma, Maddison, Cameron, Brianna, Delaney, Josh and Aiden; one sister in law, Margaret Hyde of Brazil; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Theodore; and son, Mark Bass; siblings, Austin Hyde, Ruth Feltner, Hazel Loser, Bert Brashears, Leona Hyde and Freeman "Bert" Hyde.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at French Funeral Home, with Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and again Friday prior to services. Send a note of condolence at: www.frenchfuneralhome.com.
