Gwen Ellen Sayer March 1, 1955 - February 21, 2012 Gwen Ellen Sayer, of Superior, CO, passed away on Tuesday, February 21th, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. A Celebration of Gwen's life will be held at Cornerstone Church, 1190 South Lashley Lane, Boulder, CO on Saturday, February 25th, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Gene Oborny officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Burial will take place at Louisville Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. A funeral procession will take place from the church to the cemetery. She was born March 1st, 1955 in Delano, CA, one of five children born to Robert Bassett and Carol (Kauffman) Bassett. After graduating from Bakersfield College, Gwen worked as an administrative assistant for many years before devoting herself fully to raising her family and community service. She married Robert Sayer, of Bakersfield, CA, on June 10th, 1978, in Delano, CA. She raised three children, moving to Colorado in 1993. Gwen enjoyed sewing, reading, wildlife viewing, camping, hiking, backpacking, and creating art projects. She also devoted her time to leading Bible study at the Broomfield and Boulder County Jails and was active in community outreach all her life. She was an overcomer, a mighty woman of faith, and a voice of wisdom amongst those who knew her. She was fearless and we will miss her love, compassion, support, and friendship greatly. She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Superior, CO; her children, Stacey Sayer of Broomfield, CO, Matthew (Erica) Sayer of Arvada, CO, and Michael Sayer of Placerville, CA; her mother, Carol Bassett of Tracy, CA; brothers, Alan (Deanna) Bassett of Delano, CA and Brian (Maria) Bassett of Tracy, CA; her mother in law, Irene Sayer of Broomfield, CO, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and her sisters, Gail Keefauver and Beth Bassett.
