Roxboro - Mr. Garland Bass, age 74, of 213 Oxford Road, Roxboro, North Carolina, died Friday, February 20, 1998 at Person County Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, North Carolina.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ in Timberlake, North Carolina. The services will be conducted by Bishop James Morton and the burial will follow in the church cemetery.Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mattie R. Bass of the home; eight daughters, Mrs. Jean Garcia, Mrs. Yvonne Vanlandingham, Mrs. Myrtle Tucker and Mrs. Theora Yellock all of Roxboro, North Carolina; and Mrs. Brenda Ray, Mrs. Angela Hart and Ms. Deborah Bass all of Durham, North Carolina; and Mrs. Joan Britton of Taylor, South Carolina; four sons, Garland Lewis Bass of Roxboro, North Carolina; Reginald Earl Bass, Elder Wayne Norris Bass and Michael Meshea Bass all of Timberlake, North Carolina; two granddaughters raised in the home, Mrs. Schenner Scott of Baltimore, Maryland and Ms. Tracy Wilkerson of Roxboro, North Carolina; his father, Mr. Earlie Bass of Durham, North Carolina; five sisters, Mrs. Lee Lyons of Wake Forest, North Carolina; Mrs. Mary Hollin, Mrs. Cornelius McCullum and Mrs. Lois Satterfield all of Baltimore, Maryland; and Mrs. Helen Brogden of Durham, North Carolina; two brothers, Ralph 'Pete' Bass of Roxboro, North Carolina; and Anthony Bass of Semora, North Carolina; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.The wake will be at the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ in Timberlake, North Carolina, Wednesday from 7 until 8 p.m.Arrangements by Hester-Whitted-Daye Funeral Service of Roxboro.
