Pearl O. Bassett Smith
MILLBURY -- Pearl O. (Bassett) Smith, 73, of 32B Manor Road, died Thursday, May 11, at home after a long illness.
Her husband of 44 years, Samuel M. Smith, died in 1989. She leaves two sons, Wayne G. and Kevin A. Smith, both of Sutton; three sisters, Edith Logan of Auburn, Emma LeVitre of Millbury, and Judy Volungis of Sturbridge; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Gail N. Watkins of Millbury, died in 1991. She was born in Templeton, daughter of Chester and Emma (Plouffe) Bassett, and lived in Grafton for several years before moving to Millbury more than 40 years ago. She attended Grafton High School.
She was a member of St. Brigid's Catholic Parish, and enjoyed crocheting, cards, and dancing.
The funeral will be held Saturday, May 13, from Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., with a Mass at noon in St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 12, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Central Massachusetts Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
