      Death of Mrs. Bassett
      Mother of the Mistress Cutler

It is with regret that we record the death of Mrs. Eliza Bassett, widow of the late Mr. Joseph Bassett, which occurred at Park Bank House, Norfolk Road, Sheffield, in the early hours of yesterday morning. Mrs. Bassett was in a weak state of health at the time of her husband?s death on the 7th May, and she never really recovered from the shock.
Mrs. Bassett was the daughter of Mr. Charles Miler, twice Mayor of Grantham, and she was married September 18th, 1862. There were several children, but all died in infancy with the exception of two daughters, the elder of whom was married to Mr. T.W. Ward, the present Master Cutler, in 1891. The other daughter is Miss Lily Miller Bassett.
A lady of a particularly amiable disposition, Mrs. Bassett was devoted Christian, and was greatly interested in Victoria Wesleyan Church, Stafford Road. In the year 1901, when the church was erected, the honour of opening the church door, with a golden key presented by the Church Trustees, was assigned to her. She was distinguished for her particularly unassuming manner, and was highly esteemed amongst her many friends.
The late Mr. and Mrs. Bassett celebrated their golden wedding on September 18th, 1912, when they received the congratulations of their children and grand-children, and a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
Mrs. Bassett was 81 years of age.
