      Impressive Service Unites Miss Bassett, Allen Betulius

      Miss Charlene Gayle Bassett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Bassett of Oakland City, became the bride of Allen Betulius in an impressive candlelight ceremony Saturday evening at 7 o?clock.
      The Rev. Don A. Bassett of the Methodist Church at Idaville, Ind., and only brother of the bride heard the vows repeated in the First Methodist Church in Oakland City. He was assisted by the Rev .Wilbur Teasly of the Oakland City Methodist Church.
      The bridegroom?s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Betulius of near Haubstadt.
      Mrs. David Steele, organist accompanied Eugene Blough as he sang ?Because? and ?Wither Thou Goest? before the ceremony and ?The Lord?s Prayer? following the pleding of the vows.
      The two, seven branched candelabra matched the two altar baskets which were filled with white and orchid mums. Ferns completed the decorations.
      Escorted By Father
      The bride was escorted to the altar by her father who gave her in marriage. Her floor length gown was nylon tulle over satin. Heirloom lace roses were appliqued on the voluminous triple tulle skirt and were used also to outline the modified swaure neckline and cap sleeves of the basque bodice which was formed by 12 tiny gores. Her fingertip length veil of silk illusion was held by a small cap of braided matching fabric and was dotted with tiny pearls. She wore wrist length white kid gloves and carried an orchid surmounted on a white Bible.
      Her maid of honor was Miss Carolyn Waller who was the bride?s roommate throughout their schooling and internshipos in St. Louis. Miss Waller?s floor length dress was of sugar cane nylon crystal over taffeta. She wore a matching hat and carried a waterfall bouquet of pom pons in shades of orchid.
      Miss Barbara Ann Bassett of Evansville, cousin of the bride, and Miss Becky Sue Gowan of Oakland City served as bridesmaids. Their dresses and flowers were identical in design to the maid of honor?s. Miss Bassett?s gown was in coffee colored nylon crystal and Miss Gowan?s was in sugar cane nylon crystal.
      Mr. Korn Best Man
      Best mas was Bill Korn of Evansville, cousin of the bridegroom. Rodger Borders of Evansville and Fred Campbell of Robinson, Ill., seated the guests.
      The bride?s mother wore a brown crepe, lace timed dress with black accessories and white carnation corsage. The bridegroom?s mother chose a green dress with black accessories and white carnation corsage.
      The reception followed in the church basement where the bride?s colors of orchid and white were carried out in decorations. A four-tiered wedding cake, topped with miniature bridal pair, centered the lace covered table. Mrs. Aubrey Dunning of Clayton, Ill. aunt of the bride, and Miss Linda Cato and Miss Sandra Holland of Oaklanc City served. Music was by a string trio of Evansville College.
      For traveling the bride chose a beige silk crystal sheath dress with matching accessories. After a trip through the Smoky Mountains, Mr. and Mrs. Betulius will make their honme at Warrenton, Ind.
      The bride is a graduate of Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technique of St. Louis. She is now employed as medical technologist in the office of Dr. Ralph Zwickel. She is a member of Gamma Omega Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority.
      Mr. Betulius served with the Armed Forces in Alaska and is now associated with his father in business.
