The Rev. Don Bassett
The Rev. Don Allen Bassett, 59, of Sun City, Ariz., son of Mary Louise Deeds of Evansville, died of natural causes at 10 a.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix.
He received his bachelor?s degree from the University of Evansville, and his master?s of divinity from the Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill.
He was a United Methodist minister, and had served churches in Northern Indiana, Southern California and Arizona.
He was a senior pastor at First United Methodist Church of Sun City for the past eight years.
He was a clergy member of both the Desert Southwest Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and of the Central West District.
He was a private pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
He had led church groups on ?People to People? tours to Russia, Europe and Israel and was a member of the Sun City Rotary Club.
Also surviving are his wife, Jean; two sons, Kirk Alan Bassett and San Clemente, Calif., and Aaron Pierce Bassett of Vista, Calif.; a sister Charlene Gayle Betulius of Haubstadt, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Jason Bassett, Wesley Bassett, Brittany Bassett and Kylie Bassett.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Sun City.
Menke Funeral Home in Sun City is handling arrangements.
