Valerie J. Bassett (1927 ? 2019)
Bassett, Valerie J. Bay City, MI Valerie J. Bassett was born in Buffalo, NY on September 26, 1927 to the late Ignatius and Jane (Kozinsky) Ignaszewski. She passed away on June 6, 2019 at Bay Shores Nursing Center. Valerie was the church secretary at First Baptist Church for many years followed by employment at the Downtown Management Board in Bay City. She led the devotions at the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission where she was very involved in its activities. She married Dwane E. Bassett on October 12, 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2013. She is survived by her sons: David W. Bassett, Daniel B. (Deborah) Bassett and Douglas G. (Lori) Bassett; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her siblings: her twin Walter Ignaszewski , Conrad Ignaszewski, Eleanora Mott , Raymond and Robert Ignaszewski. Funeral and committal service will be Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at South Baptist Church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark Kirkpatrick will officiate. Private burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Memorials may be made to South Baptist Church or the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission.
