Franklin T. Bassett (Picture included)
Franklin T. Bassett died peacefully on August 13, 2018, at the age of 84, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene (Cabral) Bassett of Plymouth. He leaves three daughters, Penny Cardinal and Pamela Quinn, both of Plymouth, and Amy Gramour of Houlton, Maine. He was grandfather of John Cardinal Jr. of Onset, Brian Leary II of Plymouth, Nichole Bradley of Marshfield and Jennifer Lawrence of Rockland, Maine; great-grandfather of Jacob Cardinal of Onset, Sam, Max and Michael Bradley of Marshfield, as well as Zoey Cardinal of Onset and Olivia Gardner of Mapleton, Maine. He was brother of Cynthia McGallard and Dick Bassett, both of Harwich, and Wendall Bassett of Sebastian, Fla. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post 40. He had worked for the New Bedford Standard Times for 35 years as a printer. He was a part owner of the Olden Days Shop in Kingston that his wife Arlene ran for over 32 years. Frank loved cars and antiques, going to auctions and sales, but most of all he loved his family. There will be no wake. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday afternoon at the St. Josephs Cemetery, Plymouth, at 1:30 p.m. A celebration of life reception will follow the graveside service. Franklin Thacher Bass
PLYMOUTH - Franklin Thacher Bassett (September 29, 1933 - August 13, 2018) died of a long term illness. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, and his children, Pamela and Philip Quinn, Amy and Lance Gramour, and Penny and John Cardinal, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
He resided in Plymouth and retired from the Standard Times after 35 years. Frank was also an antique dealer and collector, as well as the proprietor, with his wife, of The Olden Days Shop in Kingston. He loved his Edsel and photography, cared about people, and he loved working for the paper.
