  Notes	State Columbia, South Carolina Saturday, March 13, 1954 John D. Bass, 31, Formerly of SC, Dies in Illinois Laurens - March 12 (Special) - John D. Bass, 31, former resident of Laurens, died Tuesday in a veterans hospital in Hines, Illinois, following a short illness. Mr. Bass was a native of Greenville, but made his home in Laurens most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II and since his discharge from the service he had made his home in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Laurens. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon from the Kennedy Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend J.E. Rouse in charge. Burial will be in the Laurens City Cemetery. The body will arrive early Saturday morning and will be taken to the mortuary where it will remain until funeral services. He is survived by two sons, Johnny and Jerry Bass of Worden, Illinois, and one sister, Mrs. E.L. Tollison of Laurens.
